How does Therapy with Ben store your data?
Once food therapy or counselling commences and to ensure my counselling practice runs as smoothly and safely as possible, I keep a record of your personally identifiable information (e.g. name, date of birth, contact details) along with session notes. This data is stored securely on my practice management software Zanda Health (https://zandahealth.com/uk/) which is encrypted and password protected. I, Benjamin Brown, am the only person with access to this.
In the event of my death or sudden incapacitation my Clinical Executor, who is my supervisor, will be granted access to my account so that they can inform all clients and if necessary ensure secure deletion of your data.
Therapy with Ben keeps personal data only for as long as necessary and in accordance with UK GDPR. Data provided from potential clients in which food therapy or counselling does not commence will be kept for up to 12 months. Once food therapy or counselling commences, Therapy with Ben is legally required to keep your data for 7 years - your personal data and session notes will be securely deleted when this time period lapses.
How does Therapy with Ben keep your data safe?
All information provided to and data collected by Therapy with Ben is stored as securely as possible and in line with UK GDPR and Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) guidance. Therapy with Ben uses a password-protected Apple Macbook and electronic data is stored on Zanda Health (https://zandahealth.com/uk/) which is encrypted and password protected with two-factor authentication (2FA).
Therapy with Ben uses Proton Mail for email correspondence, which is an encrypted email service. Therapy with Ben cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted via email to Therapy with Ben. Email correspondence is at your own risk, so please consider the level of personal information you share.
The security of your information is important to Therapy with Ben and I will use reasonable security measures to prevent the loss, misuse or unauthorised alteration of your information under my control. However, given the inherent risks, I cannot guarantee absolute security and consequently, I cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.
In the event of a data breach, Therapy with Ben will follow the advice and guidance outlined by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
What information does Therapy with Ben share?
Therapy with Ben only processes and uses your data to respond to enquiries, email newsletter sign-ups, and to deliver food therapy and counselling services.
Once food therapy or counselling commences, our work together is confidential except for specific circumstances (harm to self or others) where I, Benjamin Brown (the counsellor), am legally and ethically obligated to break confidentiality, as outlined by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework (2018).
I, Benjamin Brown, abide by the BACP’s professional code of ethics and good practice and receive regular clinical supervision where I discuss client casework. Your identity will not be disclosed but aspects of our work together will be discussed to ensure I work ethically and provide the very best support and service to you.
Your data will not be shared with any other organisation without your prior consent, other than when required to do so by law.
