FAQs

Counselling for emotional eating and food guilt, supporting trust in hunger and appetite cues
  • The fee is £60 for a 50-minute session.

  • Sessions take place online via zoom from the comfort of your own home.

  • You’ll need a strong internet connection - strong enough to stream Netflix.

You’ll also need a confidential, safe and comfortable space, free from distractions, to attend sessions from.

  • The amount of sessions you feel you need is influenced by a number of factors, including:

    1. Presenting issues

    2. Goals and desired outcomes

    3. Finances

    4. Readiness to engage with therapy

Regular reviews will take place during our time working together where we can check-in on your progress, book additional sessions or identify and work towards an ending. I am more than happy to be guided by your needs.

However, I do recommend starting with a minimum of 6 sessions in order to see therapeutic benefit.

  • Sessions take place weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs.

Initially, a shorter duration between sessions may be helpful to establish a strong working relationship and to improve the therapeutic effectiveness of counselling.

  • I do not tell you what to eat, nor do I provide diet plans or specific dietary advice. Therapy for emotional eating is a service to support you to improve your relationship with food and to gain confidence in making food choices that feel right for you.

However, we may broadly explore diet but specifically through the lens of intuitive and mindful eating.

  • I work with clients who emotionally eat to support them to improve their relationship with food.

I also provide counselling for clients that are experiencing anxiety, stress, low-mood or depression.

Unfortunately, I do not work with people who have a confirmed clinical diagnosis of an eating disorder. However, support can be accessed via your GP or via the eating disorder charity BEAT.

  • The counselling service I provide is not an emergency service however, help is available.

If you feel you are at risk, are experiencing a crisis or feel in danger, please seek immediate help by contacting 999 or making your way to your nearest A&E.

Alternatively, your GP can be contacted or medical advice sought from NHS 111.

Samaritans can be contacted 24/7 on 116 123.

Mental health support can be accessed by texting SHOUT to 85258.

Please do not wait to access help. The support you deserve is available.

Food therapy supporting gentle nutrition and trust in the body

Kind words from my clients...

I feel able to see the wood through the trees and have realised how important it is to prioritise my needs and spend time with the people I love.

Ben has been a beacon of light in a storm and I genuinely believe I would not have regained mental balance without him.

You really listened and got it. I felt so anxious when we first started, but I feel I’m getting a grip on it now.
